Today is Blog Action Day! Blogger wants to show the world that bloggers can make a difference. The theme for today is the environment and going green! So I wanted to highlight companies that you can work for who are hiring that are Going Green!
Starbucks - they're trying to purchase recycled items for their stores, including cabinetry and have a coffee grounds recycling program.
Nike - they're making shoes that can be disassembly more easily to pull apart and grind up to be recycled for playground materials.
Wal-Mart - select Super stores are adding an organic food section to support farmers who are not using pesticides on their crops.
BP - working on developing an alternative fuel businesses over the next 10 years
Wachovia - making it's offices more environmentally friendly and expected to reduce energy usage by about 20%.
Charlotte Douglass International Airport - bought some hybrid-powered buses to cut back on emissions when driving passengers to and from the airport and parking lots.
Idleaire Technologies - provides technology that reduces air and noise pollution.
Best Cleaners - environmentally responsible cleaning solution safe for people with no chemical residue or smell.
We may not be there yet but there are definite steps towards bettering our world and taking care of our planet. I'm sure there are many others, but these are the ones that I could find. So thank you to those companies who recognize that we do have an impact on the planet and keep up the good work!
